Word Classes

There are two types in word class. They are big class and small class. Big class consists of Verb, Noun, Adjective, and then Small class is Adverb.

1. To know the position of word classes.

2. Knowing the meaning of word classes and affixes.

3. To find out the word class in the sentences of text quickly (scanning = to read the text quickly for finding the answers quickly and correctly) related with WH questions.

English normal sentence pattern

-   Tunggal (satu kata) -   Phrase (lebih dari satu kata)	-   Tunggal -   Phrase (Aux.verb + main verb/V1)	Tunggal / phrase

NB:

Jika ada 2 modifier dalam satu kalimat, kita harus utamakan modifier tempat(place) lalu baru modifier waktu(time),

Adj. = adjective

Another English pattern:

Subject + Verb (be <is, am, are, was, were>) + Adjective

Function of WH- questions:

Ø  What (benda – subject/object)

Ø  When (time)

Ø  Where (place)

Ø  Who (benda / subject)

Ø  Whom (benda / object)

Ø  Why (because / reason)

Ø  How (Adverb of manner)

Meaning of Affixes in Indonesia:
