Literature in Europe

The beginning literature in England can be found in the years after the conquest of England by the Anglo-Saxon. In theory, there are seven periods in English literature that is The Anglo Saxon Period and the Middles Ages (449-1485), The Renaissance (1485-1650), From Puritanism to the Enlightenment (1640-1780), The Triumph of Romanticism (1750-1837), The Victorian Age (1837-1901), The modern Age (1901-1950), An International Literature (1950-Present).

The Anglo Saxon Period and Middles Ages (449-1485)
In this period there are some common themes, based on the contents of the literature, and can be divided into three parts. These three parts can be mentioned as an important three points which includes the work of the years. First, the hero or also known as The Epic Warrior second, discussions about church and third faith, or The Power of Faith, and The World of Romance.

The Renaissance (1485-1650)
In this period, Renaissance came from Italy as one Classic European civilization. Developments in literature are marked by the emergence of literary works nuanced humanist, who pioneered an Italian named Erasmus (1466-1536). For example, 'Praise of Folly'.

From Puritanism to the Enlightenment (1640-1780)
In the Puritan period drama in the UK started having serious deterioration, particularly after the nobility dominated by the Puritans. Dramas come back in England in the Restoration period. Poets who had fled to France began coming back to the UK. In further developments, their literary works have been influenced by the French culture is very realistic.

The Triumph of Romanticism (1750-1837)
The main emphasis of the poem is a form of its complicated, without using too much feeling. Heroic couplet is widely used in the stanzas. The lyrical ballads (1798) came with a surprise, as the early sign of the romantic era is the cooperation between William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

The Victorian Age (1837-1901)
The Victorian era was the great age of the English novel realistic, thickly plotted, crowded with characters, and long. It was the ideal form to describe contemporary life and to entertain the middle class.

        
The oldest literary work is Beowulf. It was written in the 8th century AD. In literature period is same as politic, social, arts, and history period. So, we don’t necessary mind about it.
